Listen: Fucked Up - California Cold

Canadian outfit Fucked Up are poised to release the latest in their Chinese zodiac-themed EPs, with Year Of The Hare due to come out June via Deathwish. The EP is the seventh in the series, which started back in 2006 with the appropriately timed Year Of The Dog, but the series quickly became out of synch with the zodiac after skipping 2007 and then 2011 (this year is actually the Year of Sheep). Anyhow, 'California Cold' is the B-side to the EP's 21-minute title track, and in true Fucked Up style is an exploration in sound, moving through phases of cacophonous hardcore to almost serene moments dominated by wind instruments and synths.
