…AND YOU WILL KNOW US BY THE TRAIL OF DEAD
with special guests THE RED PAINTINGS
…AND YOU WILL KNOW US BY THE TRAIL OF DEAD have announced their return to New Zealand in August 2015 for the first time in 6 years to perform shows celebrating their 20th anniversary in Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland.
Trail of Dead formed as a quartet in late 1994, with key members Conrad Keely and Jason Reece remaining the staple of the band’s lineup ever since. The third of their nine studio albums SOURCE TAGS AND CODES was released in 2002 to extensive critical acclaim (and a 10/10 Pitchfork review). The band’s latest record IX will be released in New Zealand to coincide with the tour and displays their invigorating and influential approach towards expansive and experimental rock.
The band’s 20th anniversary tour has been traversing the world throughout 2015 with headline dates and festivals across North America and Europe and the shows will feature a wide selection of tracks from across the band’s incredible back catalogue.
Joining Trail of Dead for all shows are art-rock legends THE RED PAINTINGS who return to New Zealand for the first time since their sold out shows with The Dresden Dolls 9 years ago. After a stunning set supporting Mogwai at this year’s Adelaide Festival, the band will continue their ambitious world tour in support of debut album ‘The Revolution Is Never Coming’ with a new stage show.
Having toured together in North America, The Red Paintings’ live art show often featured Trail’s Conrad Keely (himself an accomplished visual artist) painting on stage during their sets. Expect potential further collaborations on this rare art-rock showcase across the country.‘IX’ is out July 23 in New Zealand through Superball Music.
“IX is their most interesting work since Source Tags & Codes” – Big Cheese (UK)
