FRIDAY 5th APRIL 2024
8PM DOORS
8.30PM HOLLY ARROWSMITH
9.30PM EBONY LAMB w GRAM ANTLER

Ebony Lamb is a Taite Music Prize Finalist and is joined by long time collaborator Gram Antler (Eb & Sparrow) and very special guest and award winning songstress Holly Arrowsmith for one night only at Space Academy in Ōtautahi Christchurch.

Returning south after the superb sold out album release tour of EBONY LAMB in late 2023, as well as supporting renowned USA alt country artists Calexico nationally and gaining a Silver Scroll nomination, don't miss this important artist's work up close and personal. Ebony's critically acclaimed album was produced by Bic Runga & Kody Nielson (UMO) & released on Nadia Reids Slow Time Records. Earning an enviable reputation amongst her contemporaries and music fans alike for her dynamic performances and prolific songwriting, Ebony has been compared to Gillian Welch, Cat Power and Neko Case. “If heaven is not within sight, is certainly is within hearing” William Dart - RNZ.

GRAM ANTLER
Reformed choirboy and post-alt-country, Jason Johnson presents Gram Antler as an anachronism, a man unstuck in time, so it goes. The songs of Poneke singer-songwriter, bass player, guitarist and session musician, Gram Antler (Ebony Lamb, Marlon Willams, French For Rabbits, Eb & Sparrow), aspire to be pop, but seem to congeal into a form that can only be described as Slacker Yacht-Rock. Hooky and melodic, and full of lush textures, the soon-to-be-released record GRAM ANTLER was written and recorded with award-winning Melbourne-based producer Brett Stanton (The Phoenix Foundation, Beastwars, Holly Smith).

HOLLY ARROWSMITH
NPR described her music as ‘Utterly beautiful, anchored by a voice that pulls you close and cancels the noise outside.’ In 2020 she was awarded the APRA Country Song of The Year, after receiving the Tui Award for Folk Album of the year in 2017. If a song can be a mirror for the listeners own inner landscape, then this is Songwriting at it’s finest.

Born on the high desert, in Santa Fe, New Mexico and raised in the mountains of Southern New Zealand, Multi Award-Winning Songwriter Holly Arrowsmith is both poet and storyteller. With the conviction that the deeply personal is also the universal, Arrowsmith’s lyrics orbit around what it means to be human, and offer up prayer-like responses to our most intimate struggles.

A leader in New Zealand’s Folk and Alt-Country movement, Arrowsmith has won the hearts of music lovers close to home and abroad, touring throughout Australia and North America and sharing stages with Sixto Rodriguez, CW Stoneking, Tami Neilson, Jessica Pratt, Nadia Reid, Marlon Williams and Tiny Ruins.
