Luckless: The Drums And Dust Tour

After a year of car crashes and mad cross-country dashes; studio-late nights and dawn-driving mornings; long-distance missives and close-quartered friction, Luckless gathers their wits for their year-end tour of the New Zealand.

2013 has seen songwriter and guitarist Ivy Rossiter wearing out her tyres up and down the country, playing solo shows from Fiordland to Northland and everywhere in between. Through drought and floods, snowstorms and nor’westerlies, new songs have flourished and the audiences grown, leaving Luckless with an arsenal of fresh grief-and-glory borne material to perfect and perform.

A heady mix of discounted cross-country flights and the interest of one of the country’s most exciting recording studios, lead Rossiter and drummer Logan Compain to collaborate with engineer and producer Ben Edwards, hothousing these new songs at The Sitting Room / Lyttelton Recordings. The resulting album is intended for release in 2014.

In the wake of this studio seclusion, and this year of intimate solo shows, the Drums & Dust tour offers audiences the opportunity to savour the full Luckless experience. Compain’s drums surge and pound like a storm-swept tide, with Rossiter’s guitars soaring and driving at turns, all within a show ranging from blissful light to bombastic dark.
