The Auckland stop of the 'Foreign Legacy' EP Release NZ Tour, Unchained XL is accompanied by nationally renowned artists New Telepathics and The Boombox Eulogy.

Unchained XL is a self produced Nigerian Kiwi Hiphop artist with a unique, afrocentric sound that is easily recognizable as his own. Showcasing his debut five track EP ‘Foreign Legacy’ (released on March 1st 2018), UXL and his band (The Shaka Boys) blend traditional afrobeat-inspired textures and rhythms with various styles of hiphop, utilising a combination of live instruments and synths. With overarching themes of identity, race, virtue and cultural innovation, and drawing musical influence from by Fela Kuti, Jidenna, and M.anifest, UXL delivers a highly energetic, and convicting performance that will leave you searching for more.

Respected around the world with an underground cult status, New Telepathics is about communication and pushing the boundaries. Drawing from soul, afrobeat, punk, electronica, jazz, dub and the avant-garde, New Telepathics takes you through a journey to protest the suffering and to celebrate the joy.
With their recent full length release “The End of War” (Jan 2018), New Telepathics is a powerhouse of intense groove fronted by Darryn Harkness (Aotearoa), Nuel Nonsu (Nigeria), Phodiso (Botswana) and Sandy Mill (Aotearoa), with the rhythm and horn sections featuring some of New Zealand’s finest musicians.

The Boombox Eulogy is a Hip Hop from Auckland, New Zealand. The group currently consists of Josh Harvey, Simon Townsend, Kriston Batistic and MC Simba Diallo and combines elements of sampling, scratching and playing live instruments to create a more traditional live hip hop sound.
