The Brickwall Project
About The Brickwall Project from Auckland
A suprising call from bassist Ben Locke started it all. On his advice Claire scheduled a meeting with Locke, bedroom guitarist Oliver Church and guitarist turned drummer Louis Anderson-Rich. It was agreed that Claire would make the very long trip from her hometown of Green Bay to the small village of Blockhouse Bay on the 15th May 2008. They would have a great conversation about love, life and discuss four words that would soon rock the entire music world to its very core... The Brick Wall Project. The foursome played their first gig the same night as their meeting at a small but poular music venue called The Shutte (Also known as Bo Bo's.) They played alongside Alternative/Electro/Post-Punk giants The Pawn Shoppe Boys and Indie icons The Brocade Knights - two bands who would later on appear quite regularly with the rising Bricks. From their first performance it was obvious they were something special. The first thing you notice about The Brick Wall Project is that remarkable trait that all great bands have; the bands music is not carried by one persons individual talent. Like The Stones, Led Zep, The Beatles and The Who, it is the collective that gives this band it's sound and feel. Not only does this make for an explosive and captivating live performance, this is one of the resons they are so good in the studio... they are a group that are open to ideas but also entrenched in their own sound. They can go in any direction and it still sounds like them. Five months down the track and The Brick Wall Project are still going strong. They havn't been in the studio since they topped the charts with their unforgettible hit single 'Looks Like Liverpool' but the band say it wont be the last thing we hear from them. I think i speak for everyone when i say "I sure hope not."
