The Smokin' 22s

The Smokin’ 22s are a 4 piece alternative punk rock band from Auckland, New Zealand guaranteed to get your feet tapping and your body moving!! The band formed in December 2007 and has had a few successes already in their short career including making the MTV Kick-start heats early 2008. The band has continued to pierce their way into the Auckland music scene playing all the local haunts with a variety of support acts often of different genres.

In July 2008 vocalist Brett Oliver joined the band which added further to the already driving energetic sound. Already The Smokin’ 22s members have quite varied influences and Brett’s influences and passion for singing has changed the soundscape in a direction which is dynamic, unpredictable and exciting.

Since Brett joined the band, The Smokin’ 22s have been working hard on getting their debut album ‘The Essential Elements of Modern Day Life’ completed which is due out in 2009. The first single off the album titled ‘Velvet on the Skin’ is set to be hitting the airwaves shortly followed by a self funded music video.
