Brains
About Brains from Dunedin
Dunedin's brutish brains (lower case b intentional, I've yet to see a capital anywhere near the band) provided one of the high points of our Awesome Feeling III compilation in May of this year. Tall poppies took the familiar whinge about New Zealand society and turned it into something like an anthem of teenage disatisfaction. The song started with no fanfair whatsoever, launching straight into its vicious business, with two, maybe three chords rioting beneath singer Matthew McAuley's poison yelp. It was all of 100 seconds long, but because of the sheer physical force, the sense of emotion being expelled at velocity, it stayed with you.
