Silke
About Silke from Auckland
Silke lives in New Zealand and is learning to play the ukulele, her first instrument ever.
Somewhere very early on she ended up performing live, weekly on radio 95bFM’s Friday Drive show with A.D.A.M. for 1 1/2 years or so, something that pushed her beyond what she thought she was capable of, thanks to the very supportive Adam and his crew.
These days Silke is lucky enough to sometimes get to perform with musicians she greatly admires, which pushes her into trying harder, practising more and slowly getting better at making music. In 2010 she was part of the winning team "The Downlow Concept" in the nationwide 48 Hour Film Competition, for which she provided the female vocals, particularly of the perfectly untranslatably filthy german language song "Schweinevergewaltigende Hure", as part of the soundtrack team with Damian Golfinopolous and Joshua Lynn.
She usually covers other people’s songs, dropping in more and more of her own, because she has been practising to write songs for a few months now.

"...at about 5am in the morning her and a whole bunch of people sang 99 Luftballons, that was an extremely good... that was one of the best moments in radio, actually!"
Painter Karl Maughan to Charlotte Ryan on 95bFM's Morning Glory
"Just saw Silke perform, was blown away! She is straight up amazing. Am listening to her EP and it's out of this world. Follow her!"

"Let me take this opportunity to say that you are a true inspiration for me. My road to become a songwriter is being very difficult, and I feel renewed every time I hear you growing on your songwriting."
