The Dust are an original music hard rockin three piece band from Waiheke Island, Auckland NZ
The Dust likens their Genre to "Murder Rock Dance Hall" and if you havent heard this style before it is because they are the innovators of it and with fair cause.
Founding members of "The Dust" are Paul Jett Vail (lead vox, lead gat), Mike Clarkin (drums) Felicity Hazlet (Keys) and now on Live Performances and their second album is Lani Lewis (Bass).
The Band formed in 2007 by holing up in an inner city warehouse for 2 and a half years writing songs. Then with at least 70 songs under their belt they decided to record an album.
After trialing the songs on live audiences they managed to narrow the selection down to 40 songs, then to 20 songs then finally deciding on 16 of their favourites to make their debut album, self titled "THE DUST".
Everything on this album was done completly by the band. From the writing to the mastering of the final product "THE DUST"
The Dust’s songs are about friends, family, love, loss, self experience and the way they interpret life. All band members share a passion for cars and tattoos.
Jett is the main driving force behind the writing of the songs...from edgy lyrics to intricate and catchy guitar riffs.
Mike Clarkin a very talented Drummer also contributes to providing the technical know how.
Lani Lewis, previously of bands Clench and The Home Wreckers, joined the band in August 2010 solidifying the bass as Felicity bid farwell to the band for a career in Rollerderby.
