Starboy (matt Bowden)
About Starboy (matt Bowden) from Auckland
Matt is well know as a political activist campaigning for safer drug policy, but is also an accomplished composer and rock musician.
Calling his music "psychedelic rock" Matt draws upon classical training, jazz experience, years in rock and heavy metal bands and electronic music production techniques to create soundscapes of heavy rock music with orchestral breakdowns and uses the whole studio as an instrument to create psychedelic effects.
"My mother was a music teacher playing jazz and folk and I grew up with heavy rock and orchestral experience, then was lucky enough to play guitar with Gitbox Rebellion and learn from Nigel Gavin which taught discipline, then I played in original metal band 'The Highwaymen' as well as various worship bands, then spent years in clubs with electronic music, I draw from a pretty broad palette musically and i like to visit all those areas."
Matt's initial EP "Induction" available on iTunes and through amplifier was well received slab of electronic chill rock with funk and jazz influences, mastered at Kog Mastering, and the new album "Homecoming" to be released in 2011 represents two years full time in the studio with extremely high production value creating something quite unique.
"My existing public profile hangs over me a little bit, not everybody understood that we were trying to make drug market safer for consumers, regardless I feel my music has to stand up and really kick arse to shift a lot of that and to be seen through fresh eyes as an artist. I'm taking the time to make sure it works!"

good on ya, Matt (Starboy). :) not all of us have tall poppy syndrome in this country and i wish you all the best in your career. comments like the above do little in the way of constructive criticism and i'm sure you have more going for you than money to get where you are. if i wasn't on dialup i'd watch your video right now and give you some feedback but i'm going to check out your work anyway.
@Jesus Didnt Tap anonymous, i agree that religion should be left out of popular music but that's only my own opinion - that of an atheist. :)
But wait !
You're forgetting about the biggest contradiction of all time ... religion
dfn Religious Wars: People fighting over who has the best imaginary friend
GROW UP !!
but frankly the dude is a walking contradiction.

It makes 'Friday' by Rebecca Black look like Mozart.
Truely the most dreadful, tuneless piece of self indulgent tripe ever seen, really REALLY Embarrasing for NZers, Christians, and Humantiy in general.
P.S and whats with the closeup of the hideous crooked yellow teeth? almost as revolting as the 'music'
My advice to Matt Bowden is Take some of the millions You have made poisoning our Children and take some singing lessons first and spend the rest on a Reality check. Surrounding yourself with sychophants and 'yes men' is the only way such a dreadful song could ever have been produced.
Only in 2011 could a millionaire drug dealer call himself a 'christian'
