The Velvet Regime

The Velvet Regime

About The Velvet Regime from Wellington

Formed late 2009, the band started playing their original songs at school assemblies and soirees, but it wasn't until joining the Smokefree Rockquest last year that they took their music a step further. They won 2nd Place at Wellington Regionals and opened up for Die!Die!Die, and got into the top 20, nationwide, out of over 800 bands.

With a new drummer (Jason Reder), after the past one's decision to quit after Rockquest, and another guitarist (Stefan Poad), they write more songs, and play more gigs to support the recent release of their self-titled debut EP.

Now 2011. They started playing more gigs to lift there fan base. The band also entered Smoke free rock quest once again, winning the regional finals and placing in the top six nation wide. Winning lowdown best song award, which won them $500 and a professional recording at Roundhead studios of "There is a light".
Since this years Smoke free rock quest, they have opened for other famous NewZealand bands such as, The Phoenix Foundation, and The Checks.
