Infinite Flying Kick
About Infinite Flying Kick from Auckland
Infinite Flying Kick (a.k.a. IFK) is a collective group of musicians operating from the heart of Auckland City. The band was formed at the end of 2005 when a casual jam session between friends eventuated into something much more serious. 2006 saw them gigging regularly around various venues in Auckland and at the same time appearing in numerous publications and radio interviews. Their debut release came in the form of a self-produced EP recorded and mixed at Dead Cat Studio located in West Auckland. Drawing upon an eclectic range of influences this release showcases the chemistry and versatility of the band. The 5-track Checkmate EP made its appearance in November 2006 when IFK played to a packed out crowd at Galatos Basement. This was followed up with a tour of North Island including shows at Hamilton, Mt. Maunganui and Wellington. Furthermore, one of the tracks ‘Mr Sad Robot’ received regular airplay on KiwiFM eventually reaching the no.5 spot on their top ten charts. 2007 began with three of the members taking a break overseas, whilst the rest of the band stayed in NZ and continued to write new material and perform acoustic shows. Now the band are back to its full lineup with simultaneous projects underway. Stay tuned!
