From Auckland, New Zealand, Ryan has been writing songs since an early age, and was madly scribing lyrics and poetry, at a time when most others his age were more interested in trading bubblegum cards.
An extremely talented guitarist he can just as easily play country (having jammed onstage with Gray Bartlett at age 12) as he can make unorthodox sounds that you wouldn’t know was guitar. Having been influenced by Slash his main style when playing onstage is blues orientated hard rock. His version of Jimi Hendrix’ Voodoo Child where he uses a toy laser gun as part of the sound has become a firm favourite in the New Zealand underground
The thing perhaps most noticeable about Kershaws live show is the passion and feeling that he puts into playing. Although quite capable of shredding with the best of them, he prefers to use quality over quantity and plays with taste, rather than trying to fit as many notes as possible into a song.
