About EQWANOX from Hamilton
EQWANOX...
A Rock trio from Waikato, New Zealand with a Punk/Grunge feel and a listenable edge, citing among their main influences Nirvana, The Foo Fighters, Seether and Blink 182
Their sound ,although unique, has been likened to that of early Silverchair, Sum41 and The Offspring. They complement this with deep, brooding lyrics which are both thoughtful and thought provoking.
EQWANOX formed in March of 2004, and have built up a diverse fan base. With a stronger presence in the youth market through playing All Ages gigs and their myspace site, they nonetheless command respect from the older demographic through their numerous R18 shows
Their songs 'Killing Time' and 'Falling' even at demo quality have already made their mark on national music channel C4TV on the shows Studentville and M.E.A.T.Y. Less Than Negative' was 'demo of the week' on The Rock FM. 21st Story is currently on A rotate on Hamilton student radio station Backbeat FM (formally The Generator).'Killing Time', 'Outside' and 'Falling' are also played frequently on Backbeat FM and also on Waikato University station Contact Fm. Wellingtonian Ben Cowps used ‘Killing Time’ as the theme song for his video clip featuring some of New Zealand’s top surfers.
The band is equally at home playing at self organised gigs or as a guest of other bands. Eqwanox has what it takes to work a room large or small. They play with passion, energy and confidence, holding the crowd from the start of their set to the end. Expect an energetic, enthusiastic and entertaining set to satisfy the ground swell of expectation from their audience.
