About Wendyhouse from
Wendyhouse have been around since 1992 when Bryce "Mr Pudding" Galloway, Daniel "EE monk" Powell and an itinerant percussionaist climbed into a windowless dollshouse (or Wendyhouse) to perform songs from the future. Their future was the year 2032 and the venue for this Sci-fi nonsense was Auckland's Artspace gallery and Soundwatch festival.
Twelve years later, Wendyhouse are still going. The time between has seen the realease of five cassettes, four CDs and one seven inch single. Wendyhouse have toured nationally on several occassions as well as popping up at various art events throughout New Zealand.
The music of Wendyhouse was initially played on toy musical instruments only. Instruments for big kids were gradually introduced. In more recent years a fondness for chance recording has seen much of the groups music become increasingly abstract:
Core members Mr Pudding and EE monk are currently living in Wellington and North Auckland respectively. The duo have just completed there fourth CD, entitled Pan. The left channel (or speaker) contains a mono album by EE monk, and the right, a mono album by Pudding. Both albums have identical track listings. It was the track titles and running time of each title that came first, with these decided EE monk and Pudding worked in geographical isolation on their respective responses. The result is the mad collision of two identities, with the occasional sympathetic accident.
Wendyhouse often flesh out the two-piece line up with help from various sympathetic freaks. Mr Snakes and Martin "Webclaw" Scott are the most regular extra personel to feature.
