Singer/songwriter Fiona McEwen draws on folk, pop, rock and country influences to create unique songs with catchy melodies. She has performed regularly around Auckland and West Auckland since 2004, either solo, as a duo with Steve Terry on guitar, or with bands "The FM Band" and "Deep River" at cafes, bars, markets, folk clubs, exhibition openings, poetry events, open mic nights, songwriter showcases and festivals including Prana New Year Festival (2005, 6 & 7), Titirangi Festival of Music (2006, 8, 9 & 10) and Kumeu Folk Festival (2010). Fiona is an events organiser and promoter who has organised events such as a "Performance Cafe" series at Corban Estate Arts Centre, Henderson (July-Oct 05), a poetry and music showcase, "Beatspeak" at Lopdell House Theatre, Titirangi, events during the 2006 and 2010 Titirangi Festivals of Music, a Montana Poetry Day event at Corban Estate Arts Centre (July 06), "All-Originals Nights" at Forde's Bar, Auckland City (Aug-Nov 08) and has been hosting an open mic night at Elevation Cafe, West Auckland since September 2009. Fiona actively promotes music events, gigs, workshops, etc, to a large email database, and has recently formed a band management agency "Westside Promotions". In August 2004 Fiona co-founded a Singer/Songwriters Group with songwriter Wendy Morris, which continues to meet regularly. She has over 50 songs registered with APRA (Australasian Performing Rights Association).
