The Randoms
About The Randoms from Auckland
Take a blues ridden approach to life in Ellerslie, an array of melodies akin to the likes of Black Sabbath and a quriky passion of lemons, and you've got dirty rock 'n' roll three piece The Randoms.
Having formed the band while in their early teens, the group's past year has seen a decadent rise in the Auckland music scene, playing alongside big acts such as Jonnie Rose, The Tarantinos, Black Heart Lane and Streetwise Scarett alongside winning the Auckland Central regional finals of the Smokefree Rockquest 2007.
Upon their formation in 2003, the group began experimenting with their styles, honing something different to what was on offer in the current scene; 2004 saw the group independently release 'Blatant Disarray', and eight track EP showcasing their already tight musicianship and their ability to write songs that gather the interest of listeners. While 'Blatant Disarray' is not a reflection of the group's latest work, it is a milestone in the groups tenure.
Since that release, the group have been striving for perfection, performing live to audience of every age range and recording EP's whenever the chance arises, including the popular 'Three Track Sampler' released in late 2006. It was this recording which caught the attentions of Benjii Jackson, radio DJ from Fleet FM and Fleur Jack, presenter of Kiwi FM's weeknightly 'IAN' show. Since then the tracks 'So Be It', 'Revolt' and 'Not All As it Seems' have received radio airplay and have become live favourites with crowds that are rapidly growing each venue the band play.
