Wayne Mason and his band “The Fallen Angels” will be out and about touring in 2008 to celebrate the launch of their latest CD which was released in March.
“Sense Got Out” is Mason’s third solo album and his first with the Fallen Angels.
Well known as the writer of “Nature”, a song that was voted by APRA members as the number one song for the past 75 years in 2001, Mason believes this album has some of his best work yet, songs that seek to understand the darker emotional side of our human nature.
The title song “Sense Got Out” was a finalist in the US based International Songwriting Competition in 2006.
Mason is a keen observer of life, people and relationships and doesn’t hold back with a lyrical intensity that reflects his songwriting craft.
He’s also a dam fine boogie piano player and along with his band, will raise the temperature when they rock through some fast and furious piano playing.
The Fallen Angels is one of the hottest bands around and this is a live performance not to be missed, audiences will be swept away with songs they won’t forget with one of the hottest bands on the scene.
Few will argue that it is live on stage where Mason really makes his mark. Passionate, powerful, intimate and intense, hard to ignore.
Mason has been involved in the New Zealand Music scene for the past forty years and has been described as a national icon and is one of the countries finest songwriters. In 2002 he was awarded the Member of New Zealand Order of Merit for his services to the music industry.
He’s been involved in some of New Zealand’s most well known bands, from the Fourmyula through to the Warratahs, he has written a number of top ten hits, including “Hands of my Heart” for The Warratahs. He’s been awarded the Apra Silver Scroll for “Nature” and has been a finalist twice. A number of his songs have been covered by other national and international artists such as Midge Marsden, Jon Stevens and The Muttonbirds. Some of the highlights of his career was opening for Johnny Cash and Billy Joel and touring through Europe.
