DAPPLED CITIES FLY

DAPPLED CITIES FLY

About DAPPLED CITIES FLY from

Dappled Cities Fly hail from Sydney, Australia and are infused with the kind of youthful schizoid enthusiasm all too rare in music these days. Last year they independently released several singles and an EP, earning critical acclaim for their melodic charisma, vivacity and left of centre creativity. A blazing trail of great live reviews followed as the boys travelled up and down the coast, drawing comparisons to the likes of Television and Built To Spill. Or perhaps a cross of early Pavement and an episode of Sesame Street. Take your pick - because truth be told, Dappled cities fly are a wonderfully weird indie band. On their first NZ release, Wimbo Park, spun out karate grunts, lyrics about paintbrushes in hell, rhythmically complex instrumentation and a Supergrass-fighting-Alfie-and The-Kings Of Convenience-in-a-Sandpit noise create a rather eclectic music jungle. Wimbo Park was released in New Zealand on March 8th on Arch Hill Recordings helping us build the bridge of musical friendship across the proverbial ditch! Bucking against the current trend of style over substance the four 21 year olds are more concerned with living and playing music like it's worthwhile than brooding over whether or not their shoe laces have been tied in the hippest manner. The band are currently recording a debut album, with producer Jonathan Burnside (The Sleepy Jackson) at the helm and toured New Zealand in April 2004 Dappled Cities Fly:

Dave Rennick (Guitar/Vox)

Tim Derricourt (Guitar/Vox)

Alex Moore (Bass)

Hugh Boyce (Drums)
