RIP Les Paul
Friday, 14th August 2009 12:00PMGuitar pioneer Les Paul died yesterday (August 13) aged 94 in New York from complications arising from a severe case of pneumonia.
Les Paul was an accomplished musician and a pioneer in all facets of music production. His innovations in recording include overdubbing, delay effects such as "sound on sound" and tape delay, phasing effects, and multitrack recording. But he is probably most famous for his part in the development of the electric guitar - Gibson Les Paul guitars are favoured by many rock legends, such as Jimmy Page, Slash, Paul McCartney, Pete Townsend and Frank Zappa to name a few.
