Wanda Jackson Moves To The Studio On K-Road

Wanda Jackson Moves To The Studio On K-Road

Thursday 3rd June, 2010 3:10PM

It happened to Passion Pit and now it's happened for Wanda Jackson. Her Auckland show on June 22 has had to change to a larger venue thanks to the demand for tickets. It will now be at The Studio, 340 K-Road. You can find all of the other important details in the press release below.

WANDA’s NEVER CEASED

DUE To overwhelming demand for the Queen Of Rock-A-Billy, the Wanda Jackson show presented by 95bFM and velvet tiger now has to move to a larger venue.

Wanda’s new single – a cover of Amy Winehouse’s You Know I’m No Good – has proved to be Jack White’s Third Man records best seller ever. The flipside (its on vinyl folks!) - a horn driven treatment of UK Rockers Johnny Kidd & The Pirates 1960 hit Shaking All Over has been doing serious business on bFM recently with Top Ten action in the last three weeks.

Her new album, produced by Mr White will be released later this year. Lips are sealed on the album, but we do know there will be a version of Bob Dylan’s Thunder Mountain reccommended by Mr Zimmerman himself!

The 72 year old little lady with the nasty voice has recently finished a European tour, completed dates in the US and heads to Australia before crossing the Tasman for her first visit here since 1972!

Tickets purchased for the Kings Arms show will be valid for the new venue. The new venue for the Wanda Jackson show will be The Studio, 340 K-Road.

Doors still at 7pm and Wanda on stage at 8-45pm. Opening act will be Heart Attack Alley, and DJ Miss Tina Turntables will be spinning vinyl only (NO LAPTOPS! NO I-Pods! No CDs!)

TICKETS available from www.undertheradar.co.nz, Real Groovy, Fast & Loose (St Kevins Arcade, K-Road) AND Conch (the best vinyl record store in Auckland)
