Undertheradar Presents: Xiu Xiu!

Thursday 29th July, 2010 11:04AM

Undertheradar is so so SO excited to present the return of Xiu Xiu to New Zealand this September!

Returning after their first visit in 2006, Xiu Xiu is centered around the dark and somewhat tortured figure of singer songwriter Jamie Stewart and a rotating cast of collaborators since 2002. Joining him will be Angela Seo who replaced Caralee McElroy on the latest Xiu Xiu album Dear God, I Hate Myself (check out of review of the album HERE) released this year – Ches Smith unfortunately will not be touring with them.

These certainly won’t be shows to shake your winter blues but are none the less a must see….

Good work on the Guess Who’s Coming To Town feature yesterday – we underestimate you every time. But no one picked the NZ artist who has collaborated with Xiu Xiu, well Jamie Stewart to be exact – it is Renee Louise- Carafice who worked with Stewart on her second album which is due out this year - a follow up to her debut Tells You To Fight in 2008.

Renee currently lives in Nashville and we have a very cool little feature coming up with her including a compilation of bands/artists she really loves from Nashville and her former US home Chicago – keep any eye out for that in the coming weeks.

And if you were wondering how you pronounce Xiu Xiu - here's what the man himself says:
