Glen Johnson Freed and Deported From Yemen

Glen Johnson Freed and Deported From Yemen

Thursday, 7th July 2011 12:43PM

We are very happy to report that imprisoned journalist Glen Johnson has been released from jail and deported from Yemen.

The former drummer of Hamilton band Yokel Ono was detained in the southern province of Lahej for more than a week for being in the country illegally while investigating an African people smuggling ring. Johnson's situation was particularly worrisome given the current political uprising in the country which made it difficult to make contact with him. His father reported to the Waikato Times that Glen had not been mistreated in prison and was just very tired.
