Live Photos: Modest Mouse at The Powerstation, Auckland

Modest Mouse played the first of two sold-out Auckland shows at The Powerstation last night. Re-invigorated Aussie pop-rockers The Grates opened proceedings with front women Patience Hodgson wrapping fans around her finger with some impressive stage antics - albeit broken up with some pretty annoying banter. Modest Mouse front man Isaac Brock's chat was similarly questionable - constantly referring to his birthday being "yesterday, today and tomorrow" - but their set was spectacular, rollicking through songs old and new, two drummers, a double bassist and horn section all in place.
