Kurt Vile To Play Auckland In December

Kurt Vile To Play Auckland In December

Thursday 22nd September, 2011 9:05AM

Prolific recording artist Kurt Vile has been announced to play his first and only NZ show this December.  The Philadelphia native has released four studio albums since 2008 and is touring in support of his latest Smoke Rings for My Halo released at the start of this year via Matador.

Like much of Vile's work, the new album employs disparate sonic references to create a series of unique tracks likened to everyone from Lou Reed to Animal Collective. Which is apt really, because the latter recently invited him to play the All Tomorrow's Parties' festival they curated, topping off an epic year of touring with the likes of Bright Eyes, Thurston Moore and playing the Pitchfork Music Festival and now heading to lil ol' NZ for the first time ever!
