REM Officially Break Up

After 31 years of making music together, REM have announced their break up. The group had this to say about the split as part of an official statement on their website:

“As lifelong friends and co-conspirators, we have decided to call it a day as a band.”

Forming in 1980 in Georgia, the band are credited with leading the intial charge of college radio-to-mainstream breakthrough with early singles like 'Radio Free Europe'.
