Friday Flashback: Tommy James and The Shondells - Crimson and Clover

To our surprise, the original version of 'Crimson and Clover' released in 1968 was performed by Tommy James and The Shondells. Lyrics aside, we'd always thought it was performed by a woman, which it has been many times since it's release covered most famously by Joan Jett.

The original spent over three months in the US charts, reaching the number one spot which is also kind of surprising given it's trippy twists and turns.  Check it out via this slightly creepy video or if you can't handle the subtitles listen here.
