Having since released her exceptional third album Strange Mercy, she will play two New Zealand shows in March....

Press Release:

ST. VINCENT TOUR CONFIRMED FOR NZ

Rushmore, Under the Radar and 95bFM present the inimitable St Vincent, in her return to New Zealand, on 18 and 19 March 2012 in Auckland and Wellington only.

St. Vincent, a.k.a Annie Clark, debuts her new full band show in New Zealand to promote her third album STRANGE MERCY.

The album has received critical acclaim since its release in September 2011. Debuting at #18 in the Billboard Top 200 in the US and scored 9.0 by Pitchfork, the album has been selected for key year-end lists: #7 in NME, #8 in Q, #9 in Time, and #26 in Rolling Stone (US), among many others.

This is not Clark’s first trip to NZ: she has previously performed at the New Zealand International Arts Festival, and with fellow Texans The Polyphonic Spree.

As Kitty Empire from The Observer notes, Clark’s impressive guitar skills see her in high demand as a musical collaborator. “Her song with Bon Iver, "Roslyn", ended up on a Twilight soundtrack, and she is currently working on a record with Talking Head David Byrne.”

St. Vincent’s recent show in London received a four star review from The Guardian (UK):

“Pure and luscious…(sending) prickles up the spine. Clark extracts maximum fuzziness from her guitar, her plectrum technique so fierce that a woman sitting near me gasps: ‘She plays like a man!’”

St. Vincent will be backed by her three piece touring band, playing two shows only: Auckland, 18 March at the Kings Arms and Wellington, 19 March at San Francisco Bath House. Tickets available from 23 January at Under the Radar, Real Groovy and Slow Boat Records.
