RV007 are very excited about the first announcement because the line-up reflects the fresh face of New Zealand music while catering for a diverse range tastes. It’s the start of a solid line-up that will be announced in the coming months.

“This year Rhythm & Vines will host a wide spectrum of music in a true festival atmosphere including indie, punk, rock, electro to our usual roots based lineup,” says Music Director, Hamish Pinkham.

The lineup is a reflection of the hottest new and emerging musical talents that New Zealand has to offer. “Rhythm & Vines is about supporting kiwi music and allowing kiwi musicians a platform to play on to ensure they live their dreams” says Pinkham. This year will be no different as we assist existing brilliant musicians like Concord Dawn to live their dream on the Rhythm stage.

Up and coming acts who will have the opportunity this year are instrumental An Emerald City, indie dance floor acts The Tutts and Motocade and a promising performance of funk punk Charlie Ash to ensure festival goers have the best New Year’s celebration ever!

Supporting kiwis that are reside outside of New Zealand and encouraging them to perform in front of a home crowd is another vision of Rhythm & Vines. In 2007 RV will host Australasian based dub / roots act Dubdoubt who will return to our shores after a recent successful sell out tour of New Zealand.

A new genre to enjoy is Die! Die! Die! who have experienced continued success across the globe. They have performed with many world class acts including the Babyshambles and currently are touring with Blood Brothers. Die! Die! Die! are very excited about the opportunity to perform in New Zealand plus enjoy a true Gissy summer New Year celebration!

RV007 have invited old favourites and dance music heavyweights Dick Johnson, Greg Churchill (as part of Aural Trash), Cyril Orson back to perform. Not only do we know they will uplift our evening but their wealth of experience in the music industry is being put to the test as they help assist team RV secure international acts they have worked with.

The inclusion of Gissy /East Coast bands such as Skankamelia and Jakob prove there is an avid live music scene thriving on the East Coast. Gisborne is already preparing for Rhythm & Vines with new cocktail bar Soho opening last weekend, the Poverty Bay Club continues to host classic kiwi acts and plan for the infamous RV summer sessions. Plus an October concert planned to coincide with the Gisborne Wine & Food Festival, called Labour of Love, will host Evermore, Carly Binding & Blackbird. Gisborne is stamping itself as the summer destination for music lovers.

“Rhythm & Vines is about sharing the love of music in a chilled relaxed atmosphere. The festival has already sold out earlybird Pruning tickets six months in advance of the festival.” This comes as no surprise to Festival Manager, Christine Shanahan, “The reputation for a safe and secure New Year’s festival, in an ultimate summer destination like Gisborne, are key ingredients of Rhythm & Vines continued success”.
