The Smashing Pumpkins Return In August

The Smashing Pumpkins are heading our way in August on the back of their Splendour in The Grass outing in Australia. Knowing ol' Billy don't expect much material from their early days, especially with a new album on the way,  but having just re-released two of their best records Gish and Siamese Dreams there is hope for some nostalgia in their set.

If new stuff is your thing then you'll definitely be in luck, the new album which throws us down-under a reference in it's title - Oceania - comes out in June and is a continuance of their 44 song project Teargarden by Kaleidyscope that launched in 2009 featuring tracks such as 'Owata' which you can listen to below.

Following last Friday’s record sell-out of this year’s Splendour in the Grass festival, Secret Sounds are excited to announce that festival headliner THE SMASHING PUMPKINS will be playing very special sideshows in Perth, Sydney, Melbourne and then heading to New Zealand for one Auckland show.

For these headline performances, THE SMASHING PUMPKINS will be debuting a unique stage design in Australasia created to reflect the visual themes to go along with the full presentation of their new album, “Oceania” – which is set for release on June 22, 2012, through Creakins catalogue.

Said Billy Corgan of the new show: "Australia is the perfect place to usher in a new era of The Smashing Pumpkins, where we look to combine an epic rock show with the latest in visual mapping technology to create a one-of-a-kind experience for our fans.”

THE SMASHING PUMPKINS have created one of thtory having sold more than 30 million albums, and won multiple Grammy Awards in the process. Formed in Chicago in 1988, they released “Gish”, their influential and platinum debut in 1991, which was followed by albums including the nine-time platinum “Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness” and the four-time platinum “Siamese Dream”, as well as the platinum certified 1998 album “Adore”.
