Outstanding international live band Crazy P & legendary ‘Good Times’ DJ Norman Jay join forces for a superb showcase performance, across two rooms & alongside a stellar lineup of local talent, for one night only, at Auckland’s Pontoon. Crazy P or Crazy Penis began as a pair of studio-based boffins, but has blossomed over the last decade into a 5-piece live band & DJ collective who have honed their DJ set into an incredible live show, which they’ve toured successfully to ecstatic audiences across the UK & the world – including NZ’s own Rhythm & Vines the year before last. The group have also written & produced three well-received artist albums & remixed too many artists to list here.

Crazy Penis’ thrilling live band set up & stellar performance standards guarantee a solid dancefloor workout! There is only one DJ playing in NZ this summer who can boast an MBE for “deejaying & services to music” – the man behind the original pirate radio KISS FM in London; who introduced the likes of Coldcut, Danny Rampling & Soul II Soul’s Jazzie B to underground radio audiences; and the likes of Louie Vega (Masters At Work), Tony Humphries & Blaze to the UK; the man who ran the Talkin’ Loud label, home to Omar, Incognito & Galliano, with mate Gilles Peterson; the man who brought soul, funk & disco to the Notting Hill Carnival when it was not cool – and then made it cool; a man who is arguably one of the finest & most respected DJs in the world today… Mr Norman Jay MBE.

NZers will fondly remember him playing alongside Gilles Peterson at the very first Groove In The Park, bringing his trademark sunny vibe & eclectic selection. He has been back only once since, but this time, it’s going to be another experience altogether, with Norman Jay playing an early set beginning at 10.30pm, in the open-air courtyard of Pontoon.

Pontoon is an extraordinary site for an evening like this: perched right on the exclusive Westhaven Marina deck, the remarkable venue boasts a stunning décor & sea views across to the harbour bridge from the gorgeous outside courtyard. Crazy Penis & Norman Jay are supported in two rooms by a stellar lineup of local talent from across the genres: Dick ‘Magik’ Johnson, Bevan Keys, Recloose & Wendy ‘30Hz’ Douglas in the main room with our international guests; and Manuel Bundy, Cian, Chris Cox, Tim Richards & the North Shore Pony Club holding it down in the bar area.
