Friggin cool band The Trons, an all robot performing act plays Hamilton next Sat 21st Jun at Flow Bar for 'Night of the Freakin Hamiltrons', along with Disasteradio, Kill the Zodiac, Doteyes and Bingodisiac.

THE HAMILTRONS ARE TAKING OVER!
Musical machines and electro-junk are programmed to take over the city of the future for “The Night Of The Freakin’ Hamiltrons” as all-robotic junk pop band ‘The Trons’ plug in for their first time on stage. The Trons and Wellington’s Half-Man/Half-Computer act Disasteradio play alongside some of Hamilton’s eclectic and eccentric talent, at the finale show of the Ignition Fringe Festival. They are pretty excited about playing through a large PA”, says Greg Locke, the band’s manager and programmer. “I just have to keep them away from any extra power points in case they overdo the voltage a bit”.
The Trons are a fully self-playing, singing, drumming and strumming band made mainly from recycled and salvaged parts and instruments and play their own style of NZ garage music. ‘Ham’, ‘Wiggy’, ‘Swamp’, and ‘Fifi’ rock out together in this unique Hamilton creation, driven by electronic circuits and computer parts. Having played a handful of performances already this year as a three-piece - including a local busking competion at which they ousted their human counterparts – the band is rearing to go for their stage debut.
Described as Electronic Awesome Pop, Disasteradio is the 80’s synth-driven dance wigout of Luke Rowell. Since 2002 Luke Rowell and computer, have together released around 150 songs on 5 albums, the latest of which Visions was voted Real Groove Album of the year, and toured half a dozen times taking in close to 200 shows.
Kill The Zodiac is the solo experimental and minimalist project of Adam Fulton. Hailing from the shadows of Mt Pirongia, Kill The Zodiac builds guitar, tape and electronics into ambient soundscape.
Doteyes says Shane Dudfield is A melange of clangy instruments and things that go beep. Maybe I'll perform it in the rafters... there's plenty of interesting spaces other than the stage.
Film and sound will merge for Bingodisiac… “Ecstatic trance states triggered by random number selectors and analogue binaries combine to oscillate square wave rigor mortis through photon generators and technological projection, in some cases involving pelicanesis” describes wire player Snakebeings.
The night is a rare chance to catch these performances all together and is presented with the help of the Hamilton Community Arts Council, Mammoth Media, Hamilton Community Radio and Contact FM. Avant-garde film will show throughout the night and entry is only $7 for unwaged or $10 for waged. Start time 9.30pm, Saturday 21st June.
