Singer songwriter Sera Cahoone started her career as a drummer, playing for groups like Carissa’s Weird and Band of Horses.
But she wasn’t content with staring at the backs of her band-mates and decided to take the plunge into the lime light, and thank be-jesus she did.
She has a very captivating voice, and a soft soothing quality to her music.
I guess to put this in a nut shell you’d go into Mazzy Star territory and Cat Power (later years) music.
It’s essentially a country album filled with pillow friendly toe tappers, but there is a slight indie tinge to it, which must have appealed to Sub Pop, the label behind this.
I enjoyed it – best suited early afternoon
