Well Duffy can now officially fuck off. Nicole Atkins is here, and a hell of a lot cooler then she is (why is she always smiling when she’s sings her sad songs..?).
Nicole Atkins' opener reminds me of a Mary Tiler Moore starter, or something from that era. It's like major pop from a time long past; big band, real instruments and a nice lazy feel that music back then often did so well.
She does have a really captivating voice, not so unlike Karen Carpenter, but with not so much melancholy.
A superb yesteryear sounding album.
