Perennial favourites THE TIGER TONES continue to impress and evolve, rewarding our patience after a short lull following the release of their debut LP on Pinacolada Records (Shocking Pinks, Pig Out) with a new line-up and outlook. Defying supernatural skeptics, the Tones have somehow managed to inflect those post-punk spirits which haunted the basslines and guitar shrieks of past hits through some rejuvenation crystals, emerging brighter and starry-eyed with a new-found penchant for the smokey corners of the club. Pummeling beats and 303-hypnotics are front and centre here, percussion tight as ever, lone bass wandering, shrugged vocals glitter like disco ball lights; sweet and nonchalant. Life Does Have a Purpose.

O'LOVELY have similarly undergone a number of changes - name and line-up - but leader Laura-Lee Watson remains, captaining the band through last year's debut self-titled LP, and the fresh four-piece through new EP Lost Luck. After an extended jaunt through the UK and Europe, the band return to impress with their billowing dream pop. O'Lovely's success lies in their ability to wield together a colourful pastiche of seemingly polar sounds: tightly wired and razor sharp but strangely ethereal and blissed-out at others. It's also evident in Watson's vocal delivery which changes from a floaty calm to powerful urgency in the same song, piercing through acid-washed skies toward a hopeful and golden zenith.

PIKACHUNES is a new solo foray from Miles McDougall, ex-Tiny Paper Daggers and new Tiger Tones member. McDougall traverses misty computer game graveyards and retro-futurist nightclubs under this playful moniker; milkyway synths and icy beatz, better dance to keep warm!
