Waiheke Wine & Food Festival 6th February 2010

Lineup Announced

The Waiheke Wine & Food festival has announced the music line up for next year’s event that will take place at Isola Estate on the 6^th of February 2010. The line up includes the Beat Girls from Wellington who stole the show three years ago with their exhilarating performance of music covers from the 40’s to the present day. Headlining will be Salmonella DJ Soundsystem featuring the Mighty Asterix and MC Mana. Salmonella recently released a new albumn and continue to entertain festival crowds with their kiwiana dub style music. Local guitar virtuoso Andy Blue and his band, who impressed at the Waiheke Winter Blues Festival in August make their first festival appearance and other special guests will be announced later in the year. The festival, under the new management of Let Me Out Ltd, will see a huge range of artisan wine and food producers take up spots under ‘market style’ canopies. The organisers, who look after the marketing and event needs of many of the islands businesses, are introducing celebrity cooking demonstrations to the festival and profiling an international mix of food and wine producers including South African rump steam kebabs, a new range of Waiheke sheeps milk cheese, Argentinian BBQ, french crepes, local beers, ginger beer and wines from some of Waiheke’s World class vineyards including Man o War Bay, Cable Bay, Top Knot Hill and other producers from further afield. Festival Director Delyth Morgan-Coghlan said were going all out this season to celebrate the huge diversity of Waiheke Island. Its a creative boiling pot of international taste sensations and there are at least two new producers launching products at the festival. Tickets have gone on sale via Ticketek with Fullers and SeaLink ferries also offering festival packages direct from their websites. For further information contact

$60 entry. It's a little unclear what you get for that. Is it free food & wine or one tasting and a selection of some foods.. I don't know..
