Jeffrey & Jack Lewis w/ Jordan O'Jordan and Seth Frightening
Thu Mar 18th, 2010
Doors open: 8:30 pm
Entry: R18
SOUP and The Saturday Whimsy on The VBC 88.3 FM present New York Citys anti-folk savant and punk composter Jeffrey Lewis (Rough Trade Records) performing with his brother Jack in JEFFREY & JACK LEWIS.
Jeffrey Lewis is one of those songwriters. A Beck of a songwriter. A Leonard Cohen of a songwriter. A Dr. Pepper of a Ginsberg.
Lewis could be described as a clanking bag stuffed with thrills, paranoia, social history and musical intuition. His delivery singes with happiness and malcontent.
Ultimately, Jeffreys songs illuminate their own friendly designs on the world through a weird mix of principle and irreverent storytelling.
Jeffreys fly delivery and wit are unmissable.
“The best lyricist working in the US today.” – Jarvis Cocker (PULP)
“Hands down my favorite contemporary songwriter.” – Ben Gibbard (Death Cab for Cutie)
OPENING ACTS: Jordan OJordan (Polka Dot Dot) confects elevating music from banjo and voice, following Wellingtons prestigious noise and folk musketeers Seth Frightening.
– Listen to The Saturday Whimsy on The VBC 88.3 FM between 2.00 and 6.00 pm this Saturday (March 13) for your chance to get free entry!
