Like its ill-fated name-sake Laika, the first dog in space and Russian national hero, Good Laika members Robin Hinkley, Jason Faafoi, Matthew Armitage, Ricky Boyd and Nic Marshall say their band “invokes pictures of bitter irony, grim humour and passionate ambition”. Of their 2009 album, Gary Steel, Tone/Metro said “In short, Followed By A Trail Of Sparks is one of the best locally made albums Ive heard all year, and despite it not being a genre that I generally subscribe to, Ive found it drifting back onto my playlist, which is high praise indeed.”
