Gig Information

Dunedins own Proxy Music presents a night of INDIE with a splash here and there of noise, jazz and pop the way it should be.

Cost is 5 measly clams.

Milkshake Cowboyz is an attempt by two nervous middle-class Auckland teenagers to mask their deepest insecurities by pretending to be self-aware. Watch in horror as they feign insight, sarcasm, self-deprecation and other tools of teenage delusion as they battle desperately to avoid sounding like the Smiths. Squeal with delight, recoil with lust and vaunt with misappropriation as these ungrateful spawns of suburbia trick themselves into thinking big words will impress you. Regardless of their intentions, Milkshake Cowboyz will self-indulge until you self-destruct. While Michael claws at a broken headset earpiece taped to his face and Euan fears judgement from his own drumkit, youll be squirming on the dancefloor Ian Curtis style. And if its been a good night, youll kill yourself too.

Winners of Battle of the Bands this year Mr Biscuits are a power-poppy band cut from the same cookie cutter as the likes of Be Your Own Pet and Bandicoot.

Sewage are 3 uber-talented 6th formers that win things and play sweet jazzy noiserock with bands like Die!Die!Die! and TFF all the time. Promos of their new album Children out soon!

The Communist Rainbow Relationship are a pop band Jim, but not as we know it. Containing members of noise bands TFF and Bastardwisher, garage effort The Hyenas, the freak-folk Tapestry Monsters and avant-surf band Wipeout these guys get down and dirty with hooks and melodies thatd have Phil Spector shooting people in the face for.
