GET “TOGETHER” WITH THE NEW PORNOGRAPHERS LIVE – AUCKLAND AND WELLINGTON – 20 & 21 NOVEMBER
 
Rushmore, Under The Radar and BFM, in association with Mystery Girl, are very pleased to present Vancouver’s own power-pop maestros THE NEW PORNOGRAPHERS live in New Zealand for the first time since 2008.
 
Bringing their acclaimed new album “Together” to life onstage will be A.C. Newman, Neko Case, Kurt Dahle, Todd Fancey, Kathryn Calder, John Collins and Blaine Thurier – the latest exciting iteration of their ever-evolving lineup.
 
Moving in a tangent from their previous work, yet incorporating all of the songwriting nous and indelible performances that marked previous outings “Mass Romantic”, “Electric Version”, “Twin Cinema” and “Challengers”, “Together” is just a bit more intimate, evoking the chamber pop of albums like Big Star’s “Sister Lovers” to a degree as yet unexplored by the band.
 
To try and comprehensively list the individual and collective achievements of THE NEW PORNOGRAPHERS would be an exercise in folly – needless to say, with mountains of accolades, consistent showings in year-end critics’ polls in pretty much every year of the past decade, and a deserved reputation as one of the most vital acts in contemporary rock’n’roll, rarely has the much-overused term ‘supergroup’ been so accurate or well earned by any band.
 
THE NEW PORNOGRAPHERS play at The Kings Arms in Auckland on 20 November, and San Francisco Bath House on 21 November.  Tickets go on sale from Monday 23 August from Real Groovy (Auckland), Slow Boat (Wellington) and www.undertheradar.co.nz.
