Kaipatiki Project, the Environment Centre of the North Shore, proudly presents an environmental film festival for all Aucklanders to enjoy. Supported by Academy Cinemas and Good magazine, these award-winning productions will be shared with audiences at the Academy Cinema in Lorne Street, Auckland City on four consecutive Sundays in October at 4pm (10 – 31).
The four films were chosen because they resonate closely with Kaipatiki Project’s own diverse work of planting trees, protecting wildlife habitats and promoting sustainable living. They will also ring true with Aucklands particular environmental challenges of protecting our unique biodiversity, getting around the city easily or simply shopping sustainably.
The festival opens on 10 October with ‘Taking Root: The Vision Of Wangari Maathai’ (Kenya 2008), the story of the Green Belt Movement of Kenya and its founder Wangari Maathai, the first environmentalist and first African woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize.
