Blends of jazz into soul & groove
Cat Tunks is known as vocalist and songwriter with the group Black Sand Diva, a jazz/soul/funk group that has gained a reputation for its strong original songwriting, solid live performances, and blending of jazz styles into a mainstream soul & groove format. She has worked with many of NZs leading musicians over the years be it as backing vocalist or leading the charge - and leaning on the soul/blues and even gypsy end of the jazz spectrum, Cat favours the vocals of the big voiced gals and draws inspiration from Dianne Reeves, Nina Simone, Aretha Franklin and many more. With a new collective summer line up ready to take to the Samoa International Jazz & Blues Festival and around the country this spring/summer, expect a night of original songs from the heart and a unique blend of vocal and musical inspirations.
Every Wednesday CJC presents a featured member artist or international guest at 1885 Britomart in downtown Auckland.
