The Capitals, anything but predictable with their energy driven performances, are sure to entertain with their instantly accessible melodic material. The Capitals live shows are a kin to Wellington City, full of colour, imagination and unexpected turns.
Monroe is a Wellington band to watch. Their sound is unique yet immediate and, although a listener can decipher inspiration from timeless bands such as Radiohead, Nirvana, early U2 and The Beatles, Monroe have written songs that affirm who they are. If you haven’t seen them live you really are missing out; vocalist/guitarists Gerry Blair and Lux Briant are both seasoned entertainers who humbly command your interest with genuine humour; drummer Shane Robinson has a natural presence that catches your attention and plays the kit with flair and individuality; and enigmatic bassist Kurt Harniss’s confident and tight yet relaxed energy gives muscularity to the group. With these elements, a risk-taking attitude and playful musicality combined, Monroe has the potential to be one of the best bands to emerge in recent years.
The Gracious Deviants are an acoustic duo based in Wellington, New Zealand. As well as a reasonably accurate description of the bands personalities, Gracious Deviants is in fact an anagram of voices and guitars.
