Riding the wave of good press from his 2009 release Out Of The Soup, Auckland musician Dylan Storey has a 5 song EP available for free download in late November. Recorded last summer these songs are a captured sample of Storey’s touring band which caused trouble throughout both islands in 2009/2010.
This line-up features Scott Mason on drums, Brendan Turner on bass and Reb Fountain on guitar and backing vocals. Mixed by Ryan Prebble, The Power of Suggestion reveals a grittier, fuzzier sound than previous material while retaining the abstract, meandering songwriting.
A series of solo gigs in late 2010 is planned to promote this EP, the first of which takes place 26 November, at Wine Cellar, Auckland with Stevie Starr and Silke. Storey plays interpretations of songs from the last 15 years on slide Dobro and Firebird electric guitars making for a compelling live performance.
