Andrew Keoghan and Grand Rapids preview songs from their newly completed and much anticipated albums, both due for release early 2011.
Andrew Keoghan combines a classical music background with elements of pop and folk, to create songs that are built on driving rhythms, delicate violin arrangements and close vocal harmonies. You might call it chamber pop. The singer/violinist/guitarist is joined by a live band including Wayne Bell (ex Bic Runga, Dave Dobbyn), Jol Mulholland (The Mots), Gareth Thomas (Goodshirt) and Victoria Girling-Butcher (Lucid 3).
From the ashes of Goldenhorse, writer/singer/guitarist, Ben King emerges with his new band, Grand Rapids. They perform a collection of grand and often rapid songs, each and every one representing countless hours of personal exploration, stuffed like forcemeat into spontaneous sausages of performance.
As well as writing and performing his own music, King has worked with Dave Dobbyn, Bic Runga and was a founding member of Goldenhorse.
