900 shows in 4 years and counting...
I went full time in 2006 quitting the day job and buying a van. Before I knew what was going on, I had been full time for 4 years and in that time had played over 900 shows.
My self-managed schedule seems to have many wondering how I do it, but I believe a lot of my motivation comes from my creative freedom, my friends, and the people I meet whilst doing what I do.
...
Three tours in Japan, New Zealand and Australia, as well as numerous months on the road in my home country of the UK; have helped my carve a living and hone my live show, and I now have three albums under my belt (two of which have sold out and had to be re-pressed, which makes me feel all fluffy and smug). Sometimes people find it hard to categorise my music, but if I had to pigeon-hole it (and I've very quickly learned that I do) I would say I'm a psychedelic folk singer/songwriter.
I've stubbornly (or stupidly) defied record labels, turning down multiple offers to remain fully independent and in creative and professional control of everything I do. So far it's working, and I'm enjoying every second of the ride.
