Dubsteps and Beyond

‘BASS, how low can you go''’ Well, pretty much as low and loud as we can here in Christchurch as New Zealand’s capital of all things drum and bass and dubstep. This year features two arenas, so prepare yourselves for the banging beats rib shaking bass frequencies and dubstep and drum and bass anthems of Dubstep and Beyond.

Dubstep Arena

TC (UK)

Irresistible in drum and bass, the UK’s TC(Tommy Boy) has been pounding out massive club tunes and packing dancefloors for a few years now and is a major player in the UK scene. From his first massive singles ‘Deep’, ‘Jump’ and ‘Where’s My Money’ back in 2007 to 2010 and his remixes of Tine Tempah, Rihanna and the stomping Nas and Damien Marley penned ‘As We Enter’, this Bristol born and bred DJ is the ultimate headliner for this night of grinding, grimey, bone rattling, bass kicking awesomness. With heavy beats and breaks, killer peaks and drops, TC will leave any crowd amping for more. As the man himself says, I want to make music that can be enjoyed by anyone. I make every style of drum and bass”.

Mensah (UK)

Also hailing from Bristol (home of Roni Size and Reprezent) Mensah epitomizes the great things associated with that city’s music. Positive, progressive and different, sometimes dubstep sometimes purple sometimes rave, the idea is to evolve his sound naturally. Alongside TC, Mensah will be a force to be reckoned with at this night of bass heavy good times.

Truth(NZ)

Local lads made good Truth will be bringing their banging bass line riddims to a room that will already be full of fans as this very popular act crash the dubstep night with a backcatalouge full of club favourites, including cuts from their latest stomping offering Puppets. Without a doubt one of the goodies for this night where bass is king.

Concord Dawn and Twincam (NZ)

Off the back of last years 5th Studio album, ‘The Enemy Within’ Matt ‘Concord Dawn’ Harvey and MC Twincam will be this year bringing their bone crushing, heavy bottom ended live set of fast paced madness to O week. We can look forward to big things from these homegrown d and b favourites.

DJ Presha (NZ)

Ex-speed metal vocalist, old-school skateboarding aficionado, Japanese art enthusiast and lifelong cross-genre music lover, Presha has DJed extensively across New Zealand, Australia, Europe and America alongside top International drum and bass talent such as Klute, Calibre, Marcus Intalex, Doc Scott to name but a few.
