THE WHISKEY LIVE is a series of concerts presented annually by THE WHISKEY bar in Auckland’s Ponsonby Road as a celebration of New Zealand Music Month each May. Featuring a broad spectrum of New Zealand musicians performing one of a kind, limited capacity shows; THE WHISKEY LIVE is fast becoming a headline attraction of New Zealand Music Month each year.
OPSHOP front-man Jason Kerrison kicks off the night with acoustic set of OPSHOP favourites from the band’s impressive chart-topping three album catalogue.
The second set sees Kerrison back on the stage with side project, the recently formed
The Babysitters Circus (TBC), an Electronica/Bass and Funk/Groove collaboration consisting of Singer Songwriters Jason Kerrison (OPSHOP), Jamie “maitreya” Greenslade, Tim Skedden and new kid on the block Selwyn Leaf.
TBC was born when the quartet began throwing sounds and ideas together while babysitting for a friend, hence the name. It soon became apparent that what started out as simply a creative outlet for it’s members was too good to keep hidden away. After all, it would be wrong not to give everyone the chance to shake their shaky bits to tracks oozing with infectious fleshy hooks wouldn’t it'
TBC has now evolved into a fully fledged live experience that has left crowds up and down the country waiting for their return. Maybe it’s the songs, maybe it’s the on stage chemistry, maybe it’s the guy wearing face paint, maybe it’s all of the above…… if you can’t dance to it, it simply won’t make the cut!
Supporting the lineup is Jonny Love, playing an acoustic set of tracks from his self titled debut album and sophomore album,’Courage’. Love took away the Breakthrough Artist category in the Juice TV Music Video Awards in 2008 and since then has performed in front of numerous audiences including main stage Rhythm & Vines (2009) and supports for Roberta Flack, Newton Faulkner, Jason Kerrison/Jaysen Norris.
