This Friday 10th June get ready for a shake down with local wellington legends Newtown Rocksteady with Fraser Ross & the felt tips.
∆ Newtown Rocksteady is a dance band that simply makes you move. Cool covers, righteous melodies, and hot original songs, rocksteady is more than a band, its a moment in life when you just have to be there!
A group of Wellington musos are combining their creative talents to create and recreate the Rocksteady reggae sound. The eight-piece, Jamaican Rocksteady / Soul / Funk big band featuring members of Hikoikoi, IRoots, Roy G and the Bivonators, Safari, Zirigidum, and The Resole Project, play stonkin' grooves to get people moving their bodies.
Their sounds and styles are inspired by the late 60's crazes of rocksteady and ska dancehalls in Jamaica and England. And the result' An inspired sound, with an infectious combination of mellow rhythms and upbeat dance tunes to get the whole family grooving!

∆ Fraser Ross, who was raised around a quarry on the Port Hills of Christchurch now lives in the paradise we call Wellington. Playing with his friends, known as 'The Felt Tips'; Maz Hermon, Jeremy Desmond, Andy Hoy, Mike Duffy. This Folk / Gypsy-Pop group alway deliver a soulful set full of heart.
